Tuscany Wine Tours: The Best Vineyards to visit

If you’re planning on visiting Tuscany and you enjoy wine, attending a wine tour is definitely something you should consider doing. Tuscany has a really thorough wine culture and Tuscans are usually really generous with interesting information about the process of making great wine so… what are you waiting for?

Let’s find out something more about Tuscany’s wine culture and which Wine Tours we suggest you attend!

PLAN ACCORDING TO YOUR TASTE

Not all wine drinkers are the same and not all wine tastings or tours are for everybody. If you’re interested in attending a wine tour, make sure you first identify which type of wine drinker you are so that you can book the best option for you.

Wine drinkers are usually divided into three categories:

* THE CASUAL WINE DRINKER : this person likes wine and will probably be excited about the chance of getting to know more about it since their knowledge on the matter is quite limited;

* THE WINE LOVER : this person loves wine and is familiar with the process of making it, as well as most of the regions it comes from or certain brands or producers. They can usually hold a conversation with a tour guide or wine producer easily;

* THE WINE CONNOISSEUR : this person is very passionate about wine. They are very informed about the matter and even have contacts at certain vineyards since they are regular customers.

Make sure to understand which type of wine drinker you are before booking a tour!

With that being said, let’s explore some of the best destinations and vineyards for a wine-tasting tour in Tuscany .

CHIANTI CLASSICO

Located in the hills between Florence and Siena and Arezzo and Colli Pisani , the Chianti Classico is a beautiful area filled with majestic medieval castles where you will be able to have some of the best wine and food tastings, along with accommodation options.

We strongly recommend you go visit Castello di Brolio , one of the most important Chianti Classico production areas, containing the oldest winery in Italy. This area is also filled with modern architectural works like Cantina Antinori nel Chianti Classico , located only a few kilometers away from Florence .

NIPOZZANO CASTLE

The site of the Castle of Nipozzano is famous for its wine, made from vines that belonged to the Florentine nobility in a 1000-year-old castle. This site was built to guard and protect Florence and it’s surrounded with not only vineyards but also olive trees. Artists like Donatello and Michelozzo Michelozzi apparently frequently purchased wine from this place.

Unfortunately, some parts from the original Castello Nipozzano were destroyed in 1944 but thankfully it was partially rebuilt and you can visit it today!

CAPEZZANA

Located right outside the city of Florence , near Prato , Capezzana is an estate that has been producing not only wine but also olive oil since 804. This large site consisting of organic vineyards, olive groves and even a cookery school can be visited throughout the year but we highly suggest you go during the Summer since they open up a terrace with a view of the Dome of Florence .

CONCLUSION :

**Visiting Tuscany’s vineyards is definitely a must if you’re a fan of wine. Getting to know more about the process behind the making of some of your favorite Italian wines is an opportunity that needs to be done at least once in a lifetime.
