Yet will also have the added bonus of entering the Colosseum through the special Gladiator entrance and enter directly onto the arena floor, usually closed-off to the general public. Of course you will enjoy all the usual benefits of our small group tour. Your group will be a maximum of 24 participants and you will be accompanied by an enthusiastic and friendly licensed guide. Here you will enter through a very special reserved access point. Stop for a second to take at the moment as you enter the Colosseum through the very same entrance the Gladiators used over 2000s years ago before their lethal combats. You will be able to feel the anticipation and imagine the roar of the crowd as you step out onto the reconstructed arena stage of the Colosseum.
The Colosseum’s arena is a restricted area of the Colosseum, usually out of bounds to the general public. What’s more, from here you will be able to enjoy unrivaled views over the dungeons of the Colosseum, where lions and other ferocious and exotic beasts were once stored!
Your Colosseum arena small group tour will continue to the first and second levels of the Colosseum where your guide will continue to fascinate you with anecdotes of the Colosseum and Ancient Rome. Next, you will visit the Palatine Hill, where the Emperors once built their houses. It’s a bit of a climb up but well worth it to get a real feel of Imperial Rome and also enjoy a stunning view over Circus Maximus!
Finally, you will go to the Roman Forum. The hub of Ancient Rome, it is here that you will feel at one with everyday Romans. As you stumble across marketplaces and temples your guide will transport you back to Ancient Rome as they explain to you how the Roman’s worshipped, what they ate and what they got up to in their free time!

Things to know before the tour
Please note: before starting the tour, it is necessary to do the check in with our front office staff, who is wearing a light blue T-shirt / sleeveless jackets with vivicos logo on it
- When accessing the monument the Colosseum visitors will be asked to pass security checks, even when entering with pre-booked access.
- This tour runs in different weather conditions, please dress appropriately
- Tickets are nominative: we kindly ask you to provide names and surnames at the time of booking
- Please bring your iD document or a copy for accessing the Colosseum, it is requested for children too.
- Wear comfortable shoes – uneven terrain and steps throughout
- Back bags are allowed inside the Colosseum if very small in size; shoulder bags or handbags are permitted if regular size.
- Please make sure you do not have pointed big umbrellas and knives of any sizes with you. Liquids are allowed but only if in plastic bottles. Remember that you can refill your containers in the fountains inside the Colosseum.
- Bring water and sun protection, especially in summer
- Photography welcome – but no tripods or drones
Important information
Please note: tickets are nominative so you will be required to provide your names at the time of booking.
We need the full names of all the participants because the Colosseum entrance tickets are nominative. All the participants will have their own ticket with the full name on, they are not transferrable and cannot be changed nor refunded. You will need your IDs (minors and infants included) because they will be checked by the Colosseum guards at the entrance. If you don’t bring your IDs or if the names don’t match, you will be denied access. You don’t need the physical ID, even a copy or a picture is fine as long as it’s well visible.
Cancellation policy
Cancel up to 7 days before the tour to get a full refund.
If you cancel less then 7 days before the activity, no refund will be issued.
