You will discover all the Vatican must-sees in just 3 hours, accompanied by a child-friendly guide, who knows how to arouse your kids’ interest in art history and make sure they learn whilst having fun. You will enter the Vatican Museums with our pre-purchased skip-the-line tickets (who wants to wait in line for hours?!) and walk through the Vatican Galleries and enter the world-renowned Sistine Chapel.
During the tour our private guide will use many visual aids, such as the iPad, to entertain your kids teaching them art and ancient mythology. During the tour you will admire the artworks in the Vatican galleries, learning lots of stuff about the Vatican city and the lives of the Popes, but also about the biggest ancient civilizations: Etruscan, Roman, Greek and even Egyptian! The statues, paintings and symbols hosted inside hide many stories and legends that were told by the old great civilizations. During the tour your guide will show your kids the sculpture group of the Laocoon, the Apollo of Belvedere and will even show you inside the Egyptian Museum: pop your head in to see real mummies, sarcophagi, canopic jars and statues! A favourite with children is also the huge bathtub of Emperor Nero, made with precious and hard to cut red porphyry, which will be the perfect chance for the guide to talk a little about Roman civilization. Also unmissable in any tour for kids in the Vatican are the galleries of the Candelabra and of the Tapestries, as well as the Gallery of the Maps, which contains detailed, frescoed maps of all Italy’s regions.
If you are lucky enough to have extra time, your friendly knowledgeable guide will also lead you to the Carriage Pavillion of Vatican Museums, where you will be able to admire even more wonders of Vatican museums. Please note that this section is subject to opening times.
By now you will have almost reached one of the attractions people come from all over the world to see: the Sistine Chapel, with its wonderful ceiling and frescoes by Michelangelo, depicting scenes from the “Last Judgment”.
Things to know before the tour
- Please note that in certain periods of summer time, or when the Vatican Museums reopen its doors after bank holidays, the museums might be busier than usual.
- Please note that, for disabled visitors with certified invalidity of more than 74%, the Vatican Museums offers free entry that is extended to a companion for visitors who are not self-sufficient. To benefit from this, make sure you mention it at the time of booking so that our staff may handle your request.
- Photography welcome – but no tripods or drones. It not possible to take pictures inside Sistine Chapel as this is a holy place.
- Please cover your knees and shoulders to enter Vatican
- You can bring a stroller inside but it is not recommended due to the constant presence of stairs.
Important information
We need the full names of all the participants because the entrance tickets are nominative. All the participants will have their own ticket with the full name on, they are not transferrable and cannot be changed nor refunded. You will need your IDs (minors and infants included) because they will be checked by the Vatican Museums guards at the entrance. If you don’t bring your IDs or if the names don’t match, you will be denied access. You don’t need the physical ID, even a copy or a picture is fine as long as it’s well visible.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations 4 days or earlier prior to the scheduled tour are subject to a penalty.
Please note Tickets and reservation are strictly not refundable. If you cancel 4 days or earlier prior to the tour we will refund you partially for the price of guide only.
No refund will be provided if you cancel your tour within 4 days prior to the scheduled tour.
