About: Rome Tours

With a private tour in Rome, you could visit some of the following iconic places: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican City, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Carcere Mamertino.

Furthermore, you may also have the opportunity to visit some less known but equally interesting places, such as the Trajan's Markets and Circus Maximus.

How do the Colosseum tours work?

Colosseum tours usually include a guided tour of the site, accompanied by a professional tour guide. Your guide will provide you with historical information and interesting details about the construction and history of the Colosseum, as well as the use of the arena during the Roman Empire.

The tour can begin with an external visit of the Colosseum to see its size and architecture, followed by an entrance inside the arena and will continue to the first and second levels of the Colosseum. Sometimes the tours also include exclusive access to the "Gladiator Trail" located under the Colosseum arena, where you will be able to see the areas where the slaves and gladiators prepared for their battles.

Tours can individual or group and can include a skip-the-line ticket to avoid long queues at the entrance.

What to visit in the imperial forums of Rome?

The Imperial Forums are a series of squares and streets built during the Roman Imperial period, and include some of the most important sites in Roman history.

During a tour of the Imperial Forums, you could visit:

  • The Roman Forum: was the political, social and religious heart of ancient Rome and includes the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Temple of Saturn, the Temple of Vesta and the Rostrum, where Roman leaders delivered their speeches.
  • The Forum of Caesar: built by the Roman dictator Julius Caesar, it is one of the oldest of the Imperial Forums.
  • The Forum of Augustus: built by the emperor Augustus, it is one of the largest and best preserved of the Imperial Forums.
  • The Forum of Nerva: built by the emperor Nerva, it is less known than the others but equally interesting.
  • Trajan's Market: Built by Emperor Trajan, this building housed a number of shops and workshops, and now houses a museum displaying artifacts found during excavations.
  • The Vespasian Forum: built by the emperor Vespasian, it is less known than the others but equally interesting.

During a tour of the Imperial Forums, a professional tour guide will provide you with historical information and interesting details about these places and daily life in ancient Rome.
