Your first stop on your Family Trip to Pisa and Lucca, will be the world-famous town of Pisa. The town owes its reputation to its most famous landmark: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Its construction began in the 12th century. However, just 5 years after works have begun, the tower began to sink in the soft soil. Though many attempts were made to straighten it, the tower still leans about 3.98 degrees today. Your kids will have great fun as they take an iconic picture pretending to hold up the quirky Leaning Tower of Pisa! In Pisa you will also have some free time to enjoy the town. You can decide to climb the Leaning Tower (on request we can purchase for you skip the line tickets) or you can take a walk and explore the historic center of the town.
Please note that children under 8 years old are not allowed to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
After Pisa, your Family Trip to Pisa and Lucca will continue to the beautiful town of Lucca. The distinctive element of the town is the impressive walls that enclose the city center. Dating back to the Renaissance, the city walls are still perfectly intact. Your kids will feel like they’ve stepped back in time as the whole family explores this Medieval/Renaissance town. In Lucca you will have time to relax. You can take a fun walk on the city walls, or even a bike ride- a favorite with the kids! Discover Lucca’s Medieval streets and its famous monuments, like the Guinigi Tower and the Dome of St. Martino. Your children will also have the chance to taste the traditional chocolate of Lucca from one of the many chocolate shops in town.
On request we can arrange for you a 2 hour walking tour of Pisa or Lucca with a child-friendly English-speaking private guide.
