During the tour you will also see the spectacular Casa Milà from outside and you will walk along the Paseig De Gracia, where three buildings stand to symbolize the rivalry between three of the main Modernist artists: Gaudì, Domènech i Montaner and Puig i Cadafalch.
Our Barcelona and Gaudì Private Tour will start in front of the Sagrada Familia, where you will meet with your enthusiastic, private guide. All our guides in Barcelona are local professionals who know the city like the back of their hands and know how to deliver the perfect experience for our visitors. Regarded as the symbol of Barcelona and the main example of the Modernism Movement, the Sagrada Familia is a very peculiar combination of Gothic and Art Nouveau architecture. Started by Gaudì in 1882, the construction works on this building have continued up until today: a work in progress which is scheduled to be finished within 2026.
At RPG we know how important it is for visitors to save both time and energy: this is the main reason why we pre-purchase skip the line tickets for Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllò. Especially for Sagrada Familia, queues to enter can last even 2 hours during high season. Not exactly a nice experience, in the hot, Catalan summers! Inside Sagrada Familia your private guide will be able to introduce you to the main features of the Modernist movement and share with you the fascinating history and hidden meanings behind this amazing cathedral.
Your tour will proceed to the Casa Batlló, another of Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces. The façade is one of a kind, with its colored balconies in the shape of face masks and pillars resembling bones. Gaudi was particularly fond of nature and he loved observing it. This inspired him to insert marine and natural elements into most of his works, to show how real life could be part of a “lifeless” architecture. Casa Milà, known by locals as “The Quarry” or “la Pedrera”, will be the last stop of your itinerary. You will admire it only from outside, but it will be enough to check out its sinuous profile and its rooftop with several impressive chimneys, resembling once again a natural figure, in this case medieval knights!
By the end of the tour you will be a Gaudi expert, and truly understand what makes his architecture, and the city of Barcelona, so special and unique! All our private guides are licensed and local: this means they not only have an historical and artistic background, but they know perfectly what Gaudi means to Barcelona nowadays. They will be able to explain who lives in those buildings, what it’s like to live inside it and in the neighbourhood, and the gossip and the stories spreading across the city!
